The Democratic Party of Pima County supports all efforts to improve the quality of life, economic well-being, environmental health, and long-term sustainability of Pima county and its residents. A regional multi-modal transportation system is key to the success of all these efforts and key to providing freedom of opportunity to all of our residents.
The Regional Transportation Authority has worked with a diverse and inclusive group of citizens to create a balanced regional multimodal transportation plan which provides for roadway improvements, public transit improvements, safety improvements, and environmental and economic vitality improvements.
Additionally, the Regional Transportation Authority plan is fully accountable to voters through an ongoing Citizens Oversight Committee which will oversee all projects and must report on the plan’s progress in annual reports to the community;
This Regional Transportation Authority plan and funding source will be placed before Pima County voters on Tuesday, May 16, 2006, as Questions 1 and 2. The Democratic Party of Pima County endorses Questions 1 and 2 (the Regional Transportation Authority plan and funding source), and urges all Pima County citizens to vote in favor of these Questions on May 16.
