Rural Metro Fire Department

We ask you to vote “Yes” for Question #2 because improving roadways and streets will reduce traffic congestion and, help us respond to accidents and fires faster.
Traffic delays are making it more and more difficult for all departments to respond to emergencies in a timely manner. Fire and emergency services are delayed everyday because of increased congestion on our streets throughout Pima County. Traffic is what slows our fire trucks and ambulances down the most.
We have a real opportunity to improve our roads and as a result, our emergency vehicles will respond to accidents and fires faster. We know that in critical situations even a few seconds can make the difference between life and death.
Improving intersections and widening roads, which the transportation plan will do, can reduce traffic fatalities and injuries. Research has shown that realigning roadways and removing roadside obstacles can reduce traffic fatalities by 66 percent. Adding turn lanes at dangerous intersections can lead to a 47 percent reduction in traffic accidents.
It’s estimated that the sales tax increases to pay for the transportation improvements will cost the average person only about $2 a month. We hope that you will agree with us that it is a small price to pay for making our community safer.
Please join us in supporting the sales tax increase. Voting “Yes” for Question #2 will help us to better serve you.
