We’ve been talking about transportation in this community for 25 years. On May 16, we have the opportunity to finally do something about it. We have the opportunity to approve a comprehensive 20-year transportation plan that will benefit the entire Pima County region.
It’s time to quit talking and get to work.
This plan takes into account existing regional transportation projects already going on, it has been designed to meet our most critical transportation problems, it works in connection with the goals of the Sonoran Desert Conservation Plan, it takes advantage of matching federal transportation dollars, and it has been approved by every jurisdiction in Pima County.
Now, it needs to be approved by you, the voters.
This plan has something in it for everyone. If you drive in rush-hour traffic everyday, or work out of your house in Oro Valley, this plan will benefit you. If you are a bike rider or a bus rider, this plan will benefit you. If you are a doctor, a student, a bird watcher, or a downtown business owner this is a plan that you can support.
It will benefit all of us.
The citizens and leaders of Pima County know how to work together. We all want a safe, beautiful, healthy, vibrant community in which to live and work and raise our families. Great communities don’t happen by accident. This comprehensive, regional Transportation Plan will help us build the kind of community we all want to live in.
We have come together. Now, it’s your turn. Vote “Yes” on Questions 1 and 2 on May 16. This is a Transportation Plan we can all get behind.
